Laurianne Bixhain

Laurianne Bixhain's photographic series address our relationship to our urban environment and to technical apparatuses. Object and architectural details are approached through a precise process of framing, lighting, printing, both analogue and digital. The photographed subject is thus layered with a research on materiality and textures, so that the image eventually frees itself from its referent. Therefore, what is at stake is the relation in-between the motives in an image series.

A graduate of the Ecole d'Enseignement Supérieur d'Art de Bordeaux and of the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig, Bixhain has shown her work in Luxembourg, Berlin, Istanbul and Amsterdam, among other venues. In 2016 she was one of the five finalists for the ING Unseen Talent Award, which is offered to an emerging European photographer on the occasion of the Unseen Photo Festival (Amsterdam). Bixhain lives and works in Luxembourg and Brussels.
