INTERNSHIP: PLACE PUBLIQUE 2018 PROJECT MANAGER

Since 2007, the ‘Place Publique’ has taken place every summer on Ottawa street as a space dedicated to visual arts and the public. Site-specific works, performances, and workshops have found a home in this space that has become a platform for interactive exchange between artists and citizens. Through a range of activities, the public is invited to take part in unique aesthetic experiences in a collaboratie and festive open-air environment.

DESCRIPTION OF TASKS:

The purpose of this internship is to coordinate, organize, and supervise the different events associated with the 2018 edition of the ‘Place Publique’. The intern will therefore have to collect and organize the proposals of artists, creators, and professionals in order to create the best programme with regards to both the art and the public.

Under the supervision of the artistic director and curator, the intern will also assume the following tasks :

  • Coordinate and stay up to date with the production, installation, and mediation of the public artwork as well as the performance cycle
  • Manage events and artists
  • Conceptualize and produce press releases
  • Help with the completion of applications for grants
  • Produce texts on the works of art
  • Manage the part of the website dedicated to the ‘Place Publique’
  • Fill out necessary administrative documents (applications for authorization, grant applications)

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

  • Experience in cultural project management, political science, urban planning
  • Currently a student
  • Interest in visual arts, particularly public art
  • Interest in sociological issues and the role that art plays within the fabric of a city
  • Good grasp on both official languages, orally and written

 

Availability:
6 months, from March 1st to August 31st 2018
