[PRESS RELEASE] Fonderie Darling and Kultur | lx celebrate 10 years of partnership between Quebec and Luxembourg

MONTREAL, SEPTEMBER 10, 2026 — Fonderie Darling and Kultur | lx - Arts Council Luxembourg are celebrating the 10th anniversary of their partnership this year, which, since 2016, has promoted exchanges and mobility for Luxembourgish artists within Quebec’s art scene. To mark the occasion, a public event celebrating this anniversary will take place on September 21 at Fonderie Darling in Montreal, during the presentation of the residency results by Luxembourg artist Sam Krack.

Launched in 2016 in partnership with the National Cultural Fund (FOCUNA) at the initiative of the Luxembourg Ministry of Culture, the Luxembourg Residency program is now administered by Kultur | lx. For the past 10 years, it has enabled one artist from Luxembourg each year to spend three months at Fonderie Darling and participate in Montreal’s arts scene. Since 2025, the residency has continued in partnership with Matapédia Jonction Pôle, allowing the recipients to discover Gaspésie through a residency at the Gare de Matapédia – Pôle artistique et communautaire. The continuation of this partnership reflects the importance these institutions place on fostering lasting relationships between the artistic communities of the two regions, as well as their role as key players in cultural diplomacy that brings both countries together.

Throughout the partnership, several Luxembourgish artists have been hosted in Montreal and Gaspésie, including Claudia Passeri, Laurianne Bixhain, Bruno Baltzer, Leonora Bisagno, Yann Annicchiarico, Suzan Noesen, Justine Blau, Justin Hübsch, Andrea Mancini, and Sam Krack. These numerous residencies have helped create more opportunities for artists and professionals to meet and have strengthened the ties between the artistic communities of Luxembourg and Quebec.

A residency showcase to celebrate 10 years of partnership

To mark this anniversary, Fonderie Darling, Kultur | lx - Arts Council Luxembourg, and the Embassy of Luxembourg in Ottawa invite the public to attend the presentation of Sam Krack’s residency project, as part of the 2026 program.
