Katie Bethune-Leamen

L'artiste travaille la sculpture, l'installation et la vidéo et s'intéresse à la nature des objets, nos relations avec eux, et nos relations les uns avec les autres comme médiation à travers des objets. Elle est intéressée par le rudimentaire et l'abstrait - des choses amorphes subsistant dans un état d'entre-deux - comme un emplacement pour l'engagement et de la possibilité pour les sens.

Biographie

Ces expositions solo récentes comprennent : YOU WIN! (février) (8-11, Toronto), Hologram Tupac. Other Things. ALL-ONE! (OpenStudio, Toronto), Shiny, Object, Person. (AGO, Toronto), the commissioned project Blobs for Lawren Harris’s Glaciers, Icebergs, and Unknown Things (AGO) et la participation aux expositions de groupe Northern Exposure (Art Gallery of Nova Scotia), and More Than Two (Let It Make Itself) (The Power Plant, Toronto). Ces résidences récentes comprennent : Fogo Island Arts (Fogo Island, NFLD), et SIM (Reykjavik, IS) with upcoming ones including the Canada Council for the Arts International Residency—Paris, and as artist-in-residence at NSCAD. Elle est la lauréate 2015 de la bourse Chalmers Fellowship du Conseil des Arts d'Ontario pour rechercher la sculpture abstraite à travers un voyage au Japon, en Allemagne, en Italie et aux USA. Elle a eu son BFA à l'université Concordia et son MFA à l'université de Guelph.
