Rotchild Choisy

Masques-Visages-Corps, racontés is a visual and narrative exploration of the relationships between bodies, masks, faces, and gestures, through their interaction with the environment. The artist examines how these elements—taken together or separately—convey identity narratives that oscillate between strategies of self-preservation and dynamics of adaptation. The work seeks to capture the emotional and social tensions that contribute to self-construction.

His approach draws inspiration from cinematic staging devices to create a space for visual and material research. He works with drawing, painting, sculpture, textile experimentation (experimental sewing), screen printing, staged photography, archives, and poetic and automatic writing. These media interact within a shifting composition, where each piece functions simultaneously as a stage element and a fragment of narrative.

The structure of the project follows the spiral motif: a non-linear narrative composed of echoes, repetitions, and endless variations. The work will take the form of a series of narrative boards, visually reminiscent of comic book aesthetics, culminating in the production of a short animated film of approximately four minutes.
