Grier Edmundson

Grier Edmundson’s most recent works question, on the one hand, the conceptual and formal histories of painting and, on the other, the Western historical narrative of Modernism. This work thus examines the parallels and divergences between these narratives, as well as the moments of repetition and overlap. Through installations based on painting, sculpture, drawing and printmaking, Edmundson proposes in each of his exhibitions a new installment or chapter within a larger body of work that draws out different strands of his interest.

The artist receives the generous support of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (2016-2018).
