Tegan Moore

Filtered through a practice of material recuperation, Tegan Moore’s sculptures and installations examine underlying complexities in the built environment. By means of granular, intuitive, and research-based investigations, her work intricately centres peripheral matter. She is interested in breaking down value structures and systems alongside physical properties to highlight how the composition of objects in space supports or denies certain ways of being.

Moore also has a collaborative practice as part of The Synthetic Collective, an interdisciplinary group of artists, writers, philosophers, and scientists who research plastics pollution. Their work focuses on some of the less visible aspects of plastic becoming waste; they investigate industry sources of pollution, how plastics degrade in museum collections, and the waste footprint of exhibition-making.

Biography

Tegan Moore (she) has presented exhibitions in Canada, Europe and the United States. Her work has been featured in Canadian Art, CBC Science, Esse arts + opinions, Momus, and Border Crossings, with authored contributions in On Site Review and The Science of the Total Environment. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Emily Carr University and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Western Ontario.
