MONTREAL, APRIL 22, 2025 – Quartier Éphémère is delighted to announce a new phase in the development of the Gare de Matapédia. Fully established, the project is now ready to pursue its mission under the local governance of a new organization, Matapédia Jonction Pôle, supporting the independent, autonomous, and artistic development of the project in Gaspésie and the region's cultural influence.
Inaugurated in 2021 by Quartier Éphémère (Montreal) and Vaste et Vague (Carleton-sur-mer), the Gare de Matapédia - Artistic and Community Pole has, over the years, established itself as a unique venue for creation and presentation. Over the past two years, Quartier Éphémère has taken over the management of this heritage building dating back to 1903 and has developed an ambitious vision for its future, including the acquisition and renovation of the building to ensure its longevity and enhance its impact.
In line with fostering artistic transmission, Quartier Éphémère today confidently hands over the entire Gare de Matapédia project to a new Gaspesian organization - Matapédia Jonction Pôle - recently founded on the initiative of Caroline Andrieux, art historian and founder of Quartier Éphémère, and three committed local artists: Maryse Goudreau (Escuminac), Pierre D'Amours (Ristigouche Sud-Est) and Pierre Durette (Causapscal). As of April 2025, under the leadership of Caroline Andrieux, the Matapédia Jonction Pôle organization will assume operations and continue the founding vision while strengthening this artistic and community hub's connection to the local territory.
While continuing to foster artistic and organic links between the cultural scenes of both regions, Quartier Éphémère is excited to see the Gare de Matapédia begin this new phase. This transition from one organization to another marks a significant moment in the project's history and paves the way for a local dynamic that promises a bright future for Gaspésie.
