[PRESS RELEASE] DARLING THRIVES WITH ME : LAUNCH OF THE ANNUAL FUNDRAISING CAMPAING

Montreal, October 25, 2023 – Under the theme "The Darling Thrives With Me", Quartier Éphémère launches its annual fundraising campaign to support Fonderie Darling's activities.

More than an exhibition center, Fonderie Darling is a veritable ecosystem combining production studios, artist residencies and educational spaces, open to the world thanks to the public square in front of its buildings. Today, this heritage site thrives on the support of its community, composed of donors, partners, cultural workers, friends, its public and, above all, the artists who continue to occupy the site and bring it to life. This campaign calls on the generosity of those who remain inhabited by their visits to Fonderie Darling, through encounters with the artworks on display, the discovery of new artists and experiences, appreciation of the architectural heritage, or a personal connection to the organization's values.

"After more than 20 years of operation, Fonderie Darling has reached a stage in its development where major investment has become essential. Now owner of its two buildings, Fonderie Darling can embark on the preservation of its built heritage, the perpetuation of its assets and the improvement of its services to support its community. This fundraising campaign represents an important lever to enable our organization to continue offering affordable production spaces to Montreal artists, build bridges between local and international artistic communities, showcase emerging artistic creation and provide enriching and educational experiences for our audiences."

- Caroline Andrieux, Co-founder and artistic director of Quartier Éphémère.

Twice as generous thanks to Fasken

From October 25 to November 30, amplify the impact of your donation with the initiative of Fasken, one of Canada's most important law firms, which is matching all donations up to a maximum of $20,000, in honour of Maurice Forget.

Through this gesture of generosity, Fasken wishes to honour the remarkable involvement of the late Maurice Forget, career partner of the firm and cultural philanthropist involved for over 30 years with Quartier Éphémère and Fonderie Darling.

"We are proud to be associated with this annual fundraising campaign in memory of one of our firm's great builders. Maurice Forget always encouraged Fasken members to get involved in the community and take an interest in the arts. With this gesture of support, we want to follow in his footsteps and inspire more people to contribute." - Éric Bédard, Fasken managing partner, Quebec Region

A passionate supporter of the arts and built heritage, Maurice Forget has served as president of several organizations, including Quartier Éphémère, the Conseil des arts de Montréal, the Guido Molinari Foundation as well as the donor of a contemporary art collection to the Musée d'art de Joliette. In 2009, he was named an Art-Affaires personality by the Board of the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal for his notable involvement in the arts and the preservation of heritage.
