Shanie Tomassini
Through a practice rooted in sculpture and drawing, Shanie Tomassini explores the renewable and cyclical experience of objects, places and ideas. Evoking sustainability, craft and ecofeminism, she reflects on the sacred that permeates the everyday.
In her work, she analyzes the nature of a material and its evolution in space and time. Her work explores the ramifications of an existential crisis and her ideas often crystallize around a form that becomes a motif of poetic emancipation. She uses symbols from her daily life that she interprets in a divinatory manner through her sculptures and drawings. Her projects often take the form of self-therapeutic ruses to cope with a chronic eco-anxiety, symptomatic of the current era.
Shanie Tomassini’s studio is sponsored by the generous support of Cogir Real Estate in 2023-2024.
