Justin Long

For the past few years, the works of young American artist Justin Long have explored nautical history. Inspired by shipbuilding techniques, whaling culture and maritime trade routes, his interests lie on our continent’s Northeast coast. During his residency, Justin Long wishes to study local nautical history while learning the traditions and knowledge of its mariners. In order to breathe life into this rich past, his work will incorporate ebbing methods such as scrimshaw sculpture.
