Yale School of Art Residency

Quartier Éphémère is proud to announce its first collaboration with the Yale School of Art. Yale University’s renowned masters program offers degree programs in various artistic disciplines. As part of this pilot residency, the Fonderie Darling is partnering with the Department of Sculpture to offer a one-month summer residency in Montreal to a recent graduate.

This project is in line with other Quartier Éphémère residency programs carried out in collaboration with French art schools MOCO Esba and l’isaT, and with the non-profit organization's mission to support emerging artists both locally and internationally. In addition to bringing high-level practices to Montreal audiences, this is the step towards building exchanges between the Montreal and American art scenes, which although geographically close, are sometimes disconnected.

For this first year, the artist-in-residence has been chosen among recent graduates from the MFA program in Sculpture. The selected artist benefits from a 1 month live/work studio accommodation at Fonderie Darling. During their stay, the team implements a personalized promotion and networking program designed to optimize the artist's adaptation and inclusion in Montreal’s cultural scene, while providing a convivial living and working environment. Activities such as public and professional meetings, studio visits and cultural discoveries are organized according to the artist's interest and availability throughout their stay.

Yale Residency 2024 includes:

• Round-trip paid transportation for a maximum amount of 700$CAD
• An artist fee of 1600$CAD
• A production grant of $1,000 CAD
• Access to the production workshop (wood, metal, ceramics, CNC cutting)
• A promotional program and logistical and artistic support
• A 4-week studio apartment at Fonderie Darling in Montreal

This Yale Residency is made possible through the generous financial support of the Yale School of Art.
