PERFORMANCE NIGHT 5

An evening of three performances on Place Publique on July 27.

- Jacqueline Van de Geer – You are the performance

Collective creation is an essential element of Jacqueline Van de Geer’s work, who intends in her work to develop strong interactions with her public. Her performances offer to viewers opportunities to become active participants of the performance happening. Those spontaneous exchanges thus become key elements of the work in progress. In You are the performance, Jacqueline Van de Geer proposes to the visitors to play with her and to perform by themselves. The artist perpetuates questions about the public's involvment during a performative action, as well as engaging political, social and artistic issues.

- Pascale Théorêt-Groulx

Through her multidisciplinary work - video, performance and installation- Pascale Théorêt-Groulx questions our way of interacting and communicating, our body relationship and our conception of normality.
She creates situations where reality is shifted that allow the viewer to reach an improbable, but not impossible, universe. For Place Publique, Pascale Théorêt-Groulx will propose a performance taking place as an aerobic class, a work inspired by some of Alison Knowles’ events scores.

- Shandor Hassan

During this performance evening, New-York based artist Shandor Hassan will improvise an architecturally inspired installation built with discarded and re-purposed materials from the Fonderie Darling work shops. The artist will also open his studio to the public. Shandor Hassan is a visual artist using photography, building - installation, architecture, and design. His residency in Quebec is sponsored by the Arts services Initiative of Western New York.
