Pascale Théorêt-Groulx

In Pascale Théorêt-Groulx's work, the notion of idiosyncrasy - the particular ways that individuals behave - seems to resonate as something obvious: the relationship that the body develops with its immediate environment is reflected upon, dissected, to bring out incongruous intersections through which the artist examines what is around us. Rather than a parody of the everyday, this research is based on a deconstruction of the behaviours dictated by functional apparatuses and by imposed relational models.

Biography

Pascale Théorêt-Groulx holds a master's degree in media arts from the Emily Carr University in Vancouver, for which she received a grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research of Canada. She recently participated in two artist residencies at the Banff Centre in Alberta, and at DAÏMÔN in Gatineau.
