Initiated by Steven and Sara Peterman, one an artist and the other director of the Brooklyn Art Library, the Sketchbook Project is a global, crowd-sourced art project and traveling exhibition of handmade books. The Brooklyn Art Library’s permanent collection currently includes more than 26,000 sketchbooks representing 135 countries worldwide. The custom-built bookmobile stops at the Darling Foundry as part of this North American summer tour, covering 32 cities, offering a selection of 4,500 sketchbooks for consultation.
