Meet the artists in residence living in Fonderie Darling's buildings—Karoline Pöhn, Lhasa Simard, and Ghislain Brown-Kossi—at an Open Studio event to showcase the progress of their ongoing research.
The free event takes place in the artists’ studios, located on the ground floor and the 3rd floor, accessible by stairs.
KAROLINE PÖHN
Karoline Pöhn’s work is part of an artistic and research practice at the intersection of textile art, materials research, and embodiment theory. She approaches textiles not as a material, but as a way of thinking—a means of generating knowledge through touch, rhythm, and resistance.
The Quebec-Upper Austria residency program is organized in partnership with the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) and the government of Upper Austria.
LHASA SIMARD
In her work, Lhasa Simard explores the sublimation of everyday objects through the act of finding. Allowing her practice to be guided by the serendipity of foraging, she envisions installations in which found and created objects interact, always within a process-oriented approach to sculpture.
After two residencies in Gaspésie (Gare de Matapédia) and New Brunswick (Projet Borgitte), her stay at Fonderie Darling marks the final stage of the second edition of the Québec-Acadie Residencies.
GHISLAIN BROWN-KOSSI
Combining painting, sculpture, and installation, Ghislain Brown-Kossi develops a visual language in which memory, belonging, and perception emerge from the physical qualities of the materials, the tension created by their arrangement, and their interactions within the space.
A residency made possible with support from the British Columbia Art Council.
