Stéphanie Lagarde

Stéphanie Lagarde explores our attempts to preserve knowledge and cultural heritage. Her interest lies in the archeology of knowledge – as the act of recovering lost or erased information through a process of transmission and endless re-editing. In her assemblages, various audio, visual and textual elements interact. She uses specific vocabularies such as sign languages, hybrid flowers, and whistling, architectural/sculptural/pictural codes of representation to engage with the artificiality of memory and the apparition of the image.

Biography

Stéphanie Lagarde has a master's degree of fine arts from Ecole Nationale des Arts Décoratifs, Paris (2008) and a bachelor's from ENSAAMA Olivier de Serres (2004) which she recieved after a six-month residency at the CCA (California College of Art), San Francisco thanks to the LVMH award.
