Mégane Voghell

Mégane Voghell is a multidisciplinary artist (video, drawing, installation, and literary creation) whose research focuses on the condition of bodies and emotions in the contemporary hypermedia context. She focuses in particular on issues surrounding the representation of life in the post-truth era, drawing inspiration from various natural, social, and digital ecologies. Her practice combines critical reflection, sensitive engagement, and experimental gestures. Drawing plays a central role, conceived as an affective form of writing, a gesture that captures the tensions of everyday life and translates them visually. She uses the concept of worldbuilding to create universes where open narratives unfold, made up of hybrid forms and relational systems. Her interdisciplinary approach also includes artistic mediation projects and various initiatives such as setting up artist workshops and organizing temporary exhibition spaces.

Biography

Her work has been presented regionally, nationally, and internationally. She participated in Diagonale's international residency program in Rio de Janeiro (Despina, 2019), Fonderie Darling's cross-residency project between Montreal and Matapédia (2022), and a production residency at Le Lobe (Chicoutimi, 2016). She has also taken part in arts outreach projects, notably at the Maison de la culture du Plateau-Mont-Royal (2024), where she led a workshop combining painting and video games. She has exhibited her work solo in Big Bad Wold / Grand Méchant Loup at the Pumice Raft gallery (2021) and Untitled at the Nicolas Robert Gallery (2020). Her recent group exhibitions include Une fiction presque tangible at the Patel Brown gallery (2024), A Catastrophic Virtue at Pangée Gallery (2023), Sonnet à la science, Ode à la magie at Projet Casa (2022), and Maison Modèle III: House of Heartbreak at Centre Clark (2021). She has also taken part in international events such as the Mirage festival at Les Subsistances (Lyon, 2017) and the Variation Media Art Fair in Paris (2018). Her work has been published in HB magazine (2020), Cigale (2019), and Nut Publication (2018), and has been supported by the Canada Council for the Arts and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec.
