Red Snow, White Fire

Ana Garcia-Pineda, the recipient of the Catalonia artist residency at the Darling Foundry, invites Montreal's audience to a performance in her studio, which is transformed on this occasion into a site-specific installation. Entitled Red Snow, White Fire, this performance is the artist's response to the numerous disruptions that have shaped her three-month stay in Quebec, on levels that are altogether personal, cultural, political as well as climate-related. By weaving together everyday observations, encounters and personal anecdotes, Garcia-Pineda proposes a sharp and shrewd narrative that breaks away from the usually accepted borders between the inside and the outside, the subject and the object, the private and the public, the literal and the metaphorical. A limited edition produced by the artist will be given to the audience and the performance will be followed by a conversation. Welcome to all!
