Evening of three artist talks by artists in international residencies at the Darling Foundry.
Stéphanie Lagarde
Paris, France
The work of Stéphanie Lagarde engages a reflection on the artificiality of memory and on the process of updating knowledge. She will present the results of her current research, based on the strategy of deployment (of objects or men) as an ideological tool for occupying a territory or a collective memory.
Claudia Passeri
Luxembourg
The work of Claudia Passeri, with its social, political and environmental connotations, seeks to reveal, often ironically, the mechanisms that activate the processes of creation and transform our view of the world. She will present her research initiated during her residency at the Darling Foundry, contextualizing it with her recent work.
Sashikant Thavudoz
India
During his residency, Sashikant Thavudoz was invited by TATA Steel to visit its Iron ore mine in Schefferville. He will talk about his journey and a new body of work informed by his interest in the different kinds of land surveying methods and approaches he learned about during his stay in Schefferville.
This talk is presented in collaboration with SAVAC (South Asian Visual Arts Centre) of Toronto.
