Michigan State University Residency

Fonderie Darling is pleased to develop a new partnership with Michigan State University, a leading American public university recognized for the excellence of its fine arts program. Through this collaboration, Fonderie Darling welcomes a recently graduated artist each year for a month-long stay in Montreal.

Continuing the collaborations developed with the Yale School of Art, as well as with the French schools MO.CO and isdaT, this new project bears witness to Fonderie Darling's commitment to supporting the next generation of artists, both locally and internationally. It aims to foster meaningful networking between young artists from North American academic backgrounds and the Montreal art community while enriching exchanges between the two neighbouring scenes that are still underconnected.

Selected from among the MFA's young graduates, the artist benefits from a six-week studio residency at Fonderie Darling during the summer. The team implements a made-to-measure program that includes professional meetings, studio visits, public exchanges and cultural activities tailored to the artist's interests. The aim is to facilitate the artist's integration into the local cultural milieu while offering a stimulating and convivial working environment.

The Michigan State University Residency is made possible through the generous financial support of Michigan State University.
