Through a series of interactive, participatory sculptures, Lagueux & L'Ecuyer explores the relationship with the public wherever they are. As part of their recycling research, the artists conduct an eco-design workshop to create their own creatures. LAGUEUX & L’ECUYER / Espèce en voie d'apparition

Artist duo Lagueux & L'Ecuyer presents Espèce en voie d'apparition, a project involving integration, documentation, and care of a series of sculptures on the land, acting like a herd that moves around to interact with people and landscapes. The sculptures were conceived as part of research into recycling and reusing in art, focusing specifically on plastic bottles. On the Place Publique du Sable-Gris, artist duo Lagueux & L'Ecuyer displays their herd, including three illuminated creatures and their digital companions, who respond to the public's sounds on the walls of an inflatable dome. Before nightfall, the artists offer a workshop for creating miniature creatures that participants can colour and illuminate in the evening.

Lagueux & L'Ecuyer both graduated from Université du Québec en Outaouais in 1998 with a bachelor's degree in art and design, and began their practice in the region's artist-run centres. Since then, they have presented their work at many festivals, artist-run centres, and public venues in Quebec. They returned to the Lanaudière region in 2003 and formalized their duo approach in 2009 with Conversations, a video installation inviting people to take a seat in a bed and experience a game involving their ability to collaborate in pairs. Based in Terrebonne, they are involved in local and regional cultural development with the organizations Art Partage and Rond-Point, and work to create fruitful links to promote access to contemporary and digital arts.
