Les caresses qui nous unissent 

The 2024 cycle of performances taking place in the new Place Publique du Sable-Gris draws inspiration from the notion of haptics [1], sensations produced by stimulating the skin with physical objects through active touch, which allows us to recognize shape and consistency. These sensations can also be simulated in viewers through vision by emulating the sense of touch without physically activating it. At a time when human contact has been disrupted by enforced distancing that physically isolates us from one another and by touchscreens that impose learning new forms of light touch, these artistic propositions focus on unsettling one of our five senses: in relation to texture and colour for COZIC, to materials and bodies for doux soft club[OA1] , to ideas of sharing and textiles for Florencia Sosa Rey, to notions of shelter and comfort for Lara Kramer, to transgression and accumulation for Geneviève Matthieu, and to notions of the artificial and the lure for Lagueux & L’Ecuyer. 

As touch encourages attachment and interpersonal bonds of trust and emotional well-being, these propositions strive to reactivate our sense of touch and valorize the comforting aspect to which it is often associated.

AN OPEN AND FREE SPACE

Every Thursday during the summer season, the public is invited to discover interactive performances that unsettle the senses to explore the sense of touch and a relationship to the body.

As an outdoor dissemination space, Place Publique offers annual art programming in Place du Sable-Gris, in front of the Fonderie Darling buildings. Temporary installations, art performances, and a terrace café transform the space into a real playing field for artists and a meeting place for all in a festive atmosphere.
