In an open, positive, and empowering environment, this workshop considers the power of the imagination through the exploration of invented figures and fantastical narratives. Based on the discovery of Tabita Rezaire’s and Sandra Mujinga’s works presented at Fonderie Darling, the workshop is a space for dialogue, learning, and solidarity; participants are invited to share their stories and reflect on the importance of imagination in creating futures where it is possible to dream. In a conversation led by the Never Was Average collective—cultural transformers and facilitators—the links between corporealities, fiction, and ancestral narratives are examined. Playing with collage, the participants are called upon to design characters with (super)natural strengths and powers that celebrate their heritage.
