OPENING / TU M'ENVELOPPES ET JE TE CONTIENS

To celebrate its twentieth year of existence, Fonderie Darling presents an introspective, self-critical and ambitious group exhibition entitled Tu m'enveloppes et je te contiens.

Under the theme of the archive and memory, the artists were invited to revisit the history of the site and to propose new works, created in response to the particularities of the art center, whether it be its architecture, the history of its artistic vocation or its institutional transformation into a visual arts centre. Through a conceptual, engaged or critical appropriation of a subject, a historical fragment or a reflection on the very notion of exhibition, the artists revisit the memory of the space to question the fabricated nature of history, the question of the archive, its transmission and the various spectral presences that inhabit an institution and feed its context.

Accurate or actualized reconstructions, reactivations of works and appropriations are some of the approaches used by the invited artists:

Christophe Barbeau, Sameer Farooq, naakita feldman-kiss, Alexis Gros-Louis, Alexia Laferté Coutu, Marion Lessard, Guillaume Adjutor Provost, Steve Giasson, Lan Florence Yee, Catherine Lescarbeau & Manoushka Larouche
