Artists mihyun maria kim (Toronto) and Rotchild Choisy (Moncton) invite you to come and meet them to discover their work in progress during their residency at Fonderie Darling. While Mihyun Maria continues her research into (un)translatable affects, Rotchild is developing an animated short that questions the relationship between bodies, masks and faces.
This free, stair-accessible event will take place on the 3rd floor. Please note that mihyun maria kim's conversation will be in English.
MIHYUN MARIA KIM
mihyun maria kim's research and creation activities are currently focused on Korean han in relation to Portuguese saudade and German sehnsucht. Exhaustion of the body, repetition of gestures, fragments of hi/stories, and suspended feelings are explored as forms between memory and imagination as interpretations across space and time.
ROTCHILD CHOISY
Rotchild Choisy's approach draws inspiration from cinematic staging devices to create a space for visual and material research. He works with drawing, painting, sculpture, textile experimentation (experimental sewing), screen printing, staged photography, archives, and poetic and automatic writing.
