Transatlantic Residencies

Seeking to continue and strengthen ties between France and Quebec, Montpellier Contemporain (MO.CO), Fonderie Darling, and Gare de Matapédia are joining forces for a new edition of the Transatlantic Residencies.

This program allows a graduate artist from MO.CO Esba – École supérieure des beaux-arts de Montpellier to benefit from a three-month creative residency in Quebec, divided between Montreal and Gaspésie, to devote themselves fully to research and experimentation, in the heart of Montreal's bilingual cultural context and the unique environment of Gaspésie. Each artist is provided with a studio-apartment for two months at Fonderie Darling and a one-month stay at Gare de Matapédia, including a studio and private accommodation.

Fonderie Darling's team develops a customized support program for each resident, including professional meetings, studio visits, networking activities, and cultural discoveries, promoting dynamic immersion in Montreal's art scene.

The residencies include:

• A round-trip plane ticket (max. $800) and round-trip transportation between Montreal and Matapédia
• A total per diem of $2,600
• A grant combining a stipend and production budget for a total amount of $3,000
• Access to production workshops (wood, metal, ceramics, CNC cutting)
• A program of promotion, logistical support, and artistic guidance

EVALUATION CRITERIA

All applications are evaluated by a committee drawn from MO.CO and Fonderie Darling teams, as well as invited professionals.

Entries will be assessed according to the following criteria:
